Hello GloveRelace.com Fans,

I wanted to take this time to reflect on the past and introduce you to what is to come in the future!

GloveRelace.com began in 2010 as a hobby. I would receive one or two gloves a month, and as a full time college student with a full time job, I enjoyed the days when I could remove myself from the everyday and take a little time to bring a glove back to life. However, as time progressed, the number of orders that I received increased to three or four or more, until I was eventually receiving upwards of 75 gloves a month from all over North America, and sometimes from around the globe. With the increased volume, I knew that I needed to rearrange my time, and with the support of my girlfriend, who is now my wife, I was able to set time aside daily to work on gloves and maintain the 1-3 day turnaround times as originally offered when I started this endeavor.

GloveRelace.com has been with me through everything, from college graduation, to the move from Southern California to Austin, Texas, to getting married, to our first child. From the start, however, I have always had the idea in the back of my mind that I would like to create my own glove line to give every player the opportunity to own a top of the line glove but get it at an affordable rate. I have always encouraged players to hold on to the gloves they already own and love because finding that perfect glove is a thing of beauty. Once broken in, your glove is your best friend and greatest tool in the game. Your go to glove is not always easy to find, though, and sometimes the highest end gloves can cost almost $400, making them inaccessible to some. I dreamt up a glove line that would use the finest materials, stand up to the toughest conditions, and cost less than comparable models in the market today. I have relaced thousands of baseball gloves and have seen first-hand all of the variations in leather, lacing, pockets, welting, piping, colors, shapes, sizes, etc. I came to know what I liked, what I did not like, and what characteristics make a beautiful, quality glove. With all of this knowledge and the ideas it produced, Grace Glove Company was born.

I poured my heart and soul into GloveRelace.com to build it into the company it is today – a family owned and operated company existing to help customers keep and continue to use the baseball gloves they already own and love. Now, with the creation of Grace Glove Company, I have a new passion – to create the most beautiful, highest quality glove possible, and make it accessible and affordable for players at every level.

Once I decided it was time to take the leap and build the first prototype glove, the hard part started – to convince my pregnant wife to let me spend countless hours building this new company. Ever my biggest supporter, she agreed and the hunt was on.

I began to source leather and search for the best manufacturers all over the world. After months and months of research and samples, I found what I was looking for. You can imagine how giddy we all got at the house, especially my two year old daughter for whom the company is named, to know that my dream was finally becoming a reality!

Thank you all for the opportunity to relace and repair your gloves. We will continue to stand behind our 1-3 day turnaround and with the launch of Grace Glove Company, I look forward to what the future brings. I hope you do as well.

Thank you all again and have a fantastic season in 2017!

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR BASEBALL GLOVE DURING THE WINTER

Author and Original Link: https://www.ussportscamps.com/tips/baseball/how-to-care-for-your-baseball-glove-during-the-winter

As winter approaches it is very important for baseball players to make sure their glove is properly cared for and stored, so that when spring comes around they can go back to playing catch without missing a beat.

Here’s some tips to keep your glove in perfect condition.

  • Store your glove during these winter months on a shelf in a cool dry place, or at room temperature. Don’t leave your glove sitting around outside, near a heater, or in your equipment bag
  • Keep your glove dry. If your glove gets wet, dry if off as well as you can with a clean absorbent rag and let it naturally air dry. Be aware that air drying tends to stiffen the leather. Don’t worry; it should soften again naturally with use. Do not blow dry it, put it near a furnace, or in the dryer as this can dry the leather out and make it crack. Apply a safe leather conditioner to the glove after it has dried to soften it.
  • Clean and condition your baseball glove using safe leather product.  Don’t spit in your glove, as the material in your saliva can deteriorate it!
  • Reshape your glove. Place a baseball in the pocket of your glove, and wrap it with a binder. Tighten or retie the laces in the fingers and web of your glove; best to use square and overhand knots.
  • Check in between the fingers of your gloves for open seams and palms, and check for broken laces. If you find any, have them repaired as soon as possible to prevent injury and mishaps.

If you follow these suggestions, when it’s time to take your glove out in Febuary and prepare for tryouts and your baseball season you will be enjoying your glove for at least another season!

A Special Ballplayer

Hello Grace Glove Family,

As you know, Grace Gloves is a family owned and operated company, and we consider all of customers to be part of that family. Your support over the past year has been overwhelming, and I could not have asked for a better group than all of you.

I am reaching out to you today, not about Grace Gloves, but about a member of our family, a fellow customer and Grace Glove supporter, Jacob Kanka.

Last week, Jacob, an 8 year old ball player and Grace Glove enthusiast, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Nephroblastoma. Also known as Wilms Tumor, nephroblastoma is a cancer in the kidneys, and is the most common form of kidney cancer in children. Jacob is already fighting, and while his journey will continue to be difficult, he is keeping his head high and is staying positive during this tough time. He is a true inspiration to his family, friends and teammates.

Over the last few days, Jacob and his family have received an amazing outpouring of support from their community, but they will continue to need support over the next few months as Jacob fights this cancer and recovers. There is always room for more love and support to be shown, and that’s where we come in. In addition to prayers and messages, which Jacob and his family appreciate immensely, you can also purchase a limited edition #JacobStrong shirt at #JacobStrong. All of the proceeds go to helping Jacob and his family in this tough time.

Already, you have shown the Kanka family what amazing things can happen when we come together to help others in need. Stephen, Jacob’s father, says “The love sent for our son Jacob Kanka is beyond comprehension. The prayers, txt, pm’s are so close to our hearts. Please know all are being read. If we have not responded, liked, etc… thank you for understanding. God bless each and every single person who has taken a moment for our son.”

Jacob is currently home and resting, but he and his family appreciate the support they continue to receive, and we ask that if you would like to help support Jacob in his fight and recovery, please visit #JacobStrong to purchase a limited edition #JacobStrong shirt.

We’re cheering for Jacob, and can’t wait to see him get back on the field.
